Jive Talking ! .. The Intranet is Dead!

Very excited to see Jive start their first day trading today. Thanks to @bloombergwest for giving us the lowdown with CEO Tony Zingale . Jive is part of a new suite of social tools available for large corporates to do social business. So what is a social business?

Social technology innovation is happening right now behind the firewall in large enterprises. Sites like Jive, Yammer, Spigit, ThoughtFarmer, SocialText, Sharepoint et al are just the beginning of a new wave of corporate technologies that go way beyond the traditional top down corporate intranet.

Social Business software tools are fast becoming the prefered options for employees to work, engage, innovate and share ideas across departments, offices sites and countries internationally.  These tools are like an internal facebook type technology that require little training and enable staff to quickly connect with other work colleagues and start being productive.

A Social Workplace is now a reality – Jive trading its 1st day is the sign that the social business software market place is now becoming investable and we will no doubt see a few mergers and acquitions in this place soon.

Large retailers will be able to benefit from using social technology to connect buyers with store staff in real time and event bring suppliers in on the conversation too. This will revolutionise how a business operates internally, rewards its staff, shares best practise and most all increase profits. This is what we mean by being a social retailer .. it goes way beyond social media and tweets and deep into the heart of the workplace.
